Young Writers Studio 2024 (Register HERE)

Young Writers Studio brought to you by Just Words Consulting Group at Illinois Art Station is designed for young authors who are ready to move to the next level. The goal of the studio is to support and guide developing writers who want to compose and revise a scene from a movie or play, a small collection of poems, a chapter in a novel, a short story, or a piece of creative nonfiction. Throughout the week, YWS will intensively support participants’ writing, offering enthusiastic praise and pointing out possibilities for productive revisions. During the week-long Studio experience, participants will have time to plan, draft, develop, share, receive responses, and revise their writing. Note that time constraints will limit how much writing can be composed, shared, responded to, and revised. So, for example, fiction writers should plan to work on a scene or a brief short story as opposed to a longer story or a whole chapter from a novel. Poets should plan to work on one or two briefer poems rather than on very long or larger numbers of poems. (Please note: Unlike Young Writers Camp, which is joyfully and militantly screen-free, Young Writers Studio will allow participants to use laptop computers and other electronic devices to do their writing if they so wish.)
