Normal, IL – Illinois Art Station Invites You and Yours to Join Them for Art Near and Far

Illinois Art Station is excited to announce a new virtual art program designed to bring people together, no matter how far apart they may be. Art Near and Far is a virtual program where families and friends can join together, from a distance, for art making, socializing, and fun. “We know that the pandemic has made it hard for people to connect with their loved ones, and even though a lot of us may be Zoomed out, by adding art making, Art Near and Far will give people a chance to connect through creativity and hopefully provide an outlet that friends and families can share, along with some dedicated time together,” said Laura Jaster, Illinois Art Station’s Executive Director. “The hope is that this will be the best video call of the year!”

Art Near and Far is a 2-hour program delivered via Zoom. Participants will receive a supply list, step-by-step instruction, facilitation from an Illinois Art Station art educator, and specialized art supplies delivered to their door. In addition, everyone who registers is allowed to invite a guest to join the fun. “Guest participants can be from anywhere,” says Jaster. “They will get sent the Zoom link as well as the supply list. There will also be individualized time for the participants and their guests in their own Zoom breakout room during the program. They will get the sense that this is a private, special, event just for them and their guests.”

Art Near and Far is designed for youth participants of all ages and their guests. It will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The 12:00 p.m. session is for ages 1 to 9 and the 3:00 p.m. session is for ages 7 and up. Registration will open on November 9, 2020 and close on December 4, 2020. Registration is FREE but IAS is requesting suggested donations of $10 per participant to support the creation and delivery of the program. More information can be found on Illinois Art Station’s social media pages.
