Field Trips
Illinois Art Station offers interdisciplinary, multi-faceted programming for PK-12 school students and educators. School programming is designed to help students extend their classroom learning and deepen their understanding of various concepts through engagement with the visual arts.
What to expect: Students expand their learning through a rotation of unique experiences in our art studio, gallery, Creation Stations, and grounds. Each school visit lasts approximately 2.5 hours and includes close-looking, interpretive conversations, and art making. Our Art Education team designs new lessons each semester and adapts them for your students, so every visit to IAS is unique and enriching.
Field trip programming will be available beginning Spring 2022. Please contact learn@illinoisartstation.org for more information.

Field Trip Programs by Age
Early Expressions (Grades PK-2): This program focuses on social and emotional growth, early literacy, and the basics of art making. Students will explore storytelling, learn to identify and visually represent emotions, and develop fine motor skills.
Puzzling Perspectives (Grades 3-5): This interdisciplinary, STEAM-based program asks students to explore their world using art as the central focus. We examine the intersection of art, math, science, and other subjects by learning to think creatively and problem solve through art making.
Visual Conversations (Grades 6-8): Throughout history art has been used to document, persuade, inspire and more. In this program we will look at the ways art communicates and what it has to tell us about a variety of subjects. Students will have the opportunity to explore the language of the visual arts and practice interpreting it and using it themselves.
Art and Us (Grades 9-12): How can art create a sense of identity and community? How can art be a means of using your voice? How can art spark change? This program will explore these questions and others as we examine the many ways art can be used as a means of civic engagement and a force for social justice.
